Welcome To The Town Of Port Royal. A Sister To Beaufort City.

Port Royal is a delightful town in Beaufort County where historical charm and modern innovation have come together to create an active, welcoming, and highly sought-after community.

Living In The Town Of Port Royal SC

A lot is happening in Port Royal, from the annual events and festivals that take place regularly, to the more notable redevelopment of the 52 acre waterfront area after it was purchased from the SC State Port Authority. Some highlights of the redevelopment plans are a proposed marina that will include up to 250 slips, increased residential density, a boardwalk, a public plaza, and an update to the existing shrimp docks. The project aims to revitalize the area, improve its accessibility, enhance the public space, and attract new businesses.

Building and innovation are not the only aspects of Port Royal, however. The town’s roots run deep, as evidenced by historical landmarks high bluffs of Wrights Point and Port Royal Landing. Wrights Point which is now a residential community served as a strategic location during the Civil War and was later used as a naval station during World War I. Today Port Royal Landing it is a well-known waterfront neighborhood where homeowners enjoy access to the Port Royal Landing Marina and its restaurant. Port Royal Landing was fashioned after a small New England cottage neighborhood is a popular destination set on the Beaufort River. The marina offers boat slips, fuel and a ship's store. The landing has a rich history, serving as a key point for trade and commerce in the area.

If living on the water speaks to your spirit, then Port Royal has no shortage of options. The homes here can be either historic or modern, and many are known for their distinct lowcountry architectural style. Imagine large porches, steep roofs, raised foundations, open floor plans with high ceilings, and large windows to capitalize on natural light. Waterfront properties are objects of desire, as many feature docks and direct access to the Intracoastal Waterway. Historic homes can date back to the 19th century, and some have been restored to their original glory.

Port Royal playfully beckons to visitors and residents who love the outdoors. The waters here are abundant with fish waiting for a line, the trails are enticing and calling to hikers, and the waterways promise smooth sunny days of boating. What more could a lover of the lowcountry ask for?
