Hunting Island State Park

Hunting Island State Park is just south of Harbor Island and north of Fripp Island directly on the Atlantic Ocean. It is about 16 miles east of downtown Beaufort and is one of the most popular and beautiful parks in South Carolina. There are not many State parks the size of Hunting Island. This park includes 5,000 acres and it's 3 miles of natural beach is a destination for more than a million visitors a year.

Getting out on the river in Beaufort is one of my favorite things to do. And when the grandchildren come along its always fun. This pic was taken at the end of last summer during one of the last warm days. We are looking forward to getting back out in the boat with the kids.

I have been checking out the new tubes that are on the market not. They even have them for the older crowd and come complete with cup holders. Now that's what I call progress.

The old village of Port Royal is on a peninsula bordered on the east by the Beaufort River (The Intracoastal Waterway) and Battery Creek on the west.
