I remember being out in my boat in a dense fog leaving Harbor Town Yacht basin heading over to Daufuskie Island one day. I made sure to go fairly slow because of the dense fog while still keeping my track as straight as I could in the direction of Daufuskie across Calibougie Sound. After a while I saw channel markers emerge from the fog and was surprised I had made it across the sound so quickly. Then I realized I had done a 360 degree turn and was actually back where I had started at Harbor Town. Since then it is pretty hard to get me out in the boat when it is foggy. This fog off the south end of Hunting Island in the ocean would definitely keep me inshore.

Hop in the car a drive east from downtown Beaufort on Sea Island Parkway.
