Harbor Island is a great family vacation or retirement community located about a fifteen minute drive from downtown Beaufort SC. Most of the homes and condos either front along the oceanfront or have great views of the St Helena Sound and Harbor River.
This is a low key island without the resort activity and crowds that usually occur on other oceanfront resorts in the area. If your looking for a great getaway that is perfect for family gatherings this might be it.
We used to live on Harbor Island and loved it. Our home was on the Ocean Marsh area of Harbor Island which it set back away from the main beach and beach club area. We were full time residents so we preferred the look and feel of Ocean Marsh along with the views of the marsh and Johnson Creek Inlet on the Atlantic Ocean.
The preferred mode of transportation is a golf cart and you could usually find us tooling around on one heading to the beach or club pool.
Harbor Island real estate has always been reasonably priced in comparison to many of the other oceanfront communities is South Carolina. So you should check it out.
