Beaufort Waterfront Is Unique
Coins Scattered In A Shallow Pool.
If you fly over the northern part of Beaufort County or "north of the Broad" as the locals call the area, the geography really does resemble coins scattered in a shallow pool. This area "north of the Broad River" has more waterfront property than anywhere along the South Carolina coast. Waterfront in the form of beaches, island creeks, rivers, marshes and the banks of the mainland stretch for miles from the Atlantic Ocean westward to the watershed rivers of the Coosahatchie and Pocatalico rivers some 30 miles inland. There are hundreds of creeks, beaches and islands to explore.
So with all the islands, rivers marshes and creeks that surround us, the Beaufort area is a little challenging to get to know. Finding your way around Beaufort means traveling out onto peninsulas, going by car on winding roads through the countryside or traveling by boat in the rivers and creeks. The City of Beaufort and the Town Of Port Royal are even located on the large island of Port Royal Island which is bordered on the north by the Whale Branch river and on the south and east by the Broad and Beaufort Rivers.
We have make it a little easier for you to navigate the properties that are available in the Beaufort area by grouping the Beaufort area into six smaller areas and showing the homes and land that are available in each by the type of waterfront.
