Hunting Island State Park

Hunting Island State Park is just south of Harbor Island and north of Fripp Island directly on the Atlantic Ocean. Getting out on the river in Beaufort is one of my favorite things to do. And when the grandchildren come along its always fun. This pic was taken at the end of last summer during one of the last warm days. We are looking forward to getting back out in the boat with the kids.

I have been checking out the new tubes that are on the market not. They even have them for the older crowd and come complete with cup holders. Now that's what I call progress.

One morning while I was taking some photos of a new listing I happened to get a shot of these guys rowing on Battery Creek near Parris Island. There is a great rowing club in Beaufort now called The Beaufort Rowing Club.

The rivers of Beaufort are a perfect place for rowing. Especially inthe early morning hours when the winds are usually calm.

Guess its time for me to get out and do some rowing myself.

I remember being out in my boat in a dense fog leaving Harbor Town Yacht basin heading over to Daufuskie Island one day. I made sure to go fairly slow because of the dense fog while still keeping my track as straight as I could in the direction of Daufuskie across Calibougie Sound. After a while I saw channel markers emerge from the fog and was surprised I had made it across the sound so quickly. Then I realized I had done a 360 degree turn and was actually back where I had started at Harbor Town. Since then it is pretty hard to get me out in the boat when it is foggy. This fog off the south end of Hunting Island in the ocean would definitely keep me inshore.
